Clear Blue Technologies International and Metro-Tech Sales and Consulting have wrapped up a safety switch lighting project for Conrail; ContainerPort Group has sold its rail lift operation; and Hatch is celebrating 65 years as a consultancy.

Clear Blue Technologies International and Metro-Tech Sales and Consulting have provided Illumient solar lights to Conrail to light rail switches at a Greenwich County, N.J., yard. “Conrail was looking for reliable power solutions to light their railroad switches,” said Ron Stadler of Metro-Tech. “Many of these switches are not near reliable power grid services, so it wasn’t cost effective to develop the infrastructure.” That’s why the Illumient off-grid solution was selected. Clear Blue’s Smart Off-Grid technology is said to ensure “the delivery of reliable lighting services and proactive identification and advanced management of failures or maintenance issues to avoid service interruption.” Additionally, since railway switches need to function through temperature extremes and lack of sunlight, Clear Blue’s Illumient “is specifically built to deliver maximum uptime through predictive energy and weather forecasting.” Illumient lighting systems can include a LED light pole, solar panel or wind turbine, battery, smart controller, an integrated wireless communications network, and the Illumience cloud-based power management software.

ContainerPort Group (CPG®), a Cleveland, Ohio-based transportation company specializing in intermodal drayage, has sold CY, a rail lift operation in Indiana, and the Container Sales division of the company to ITS ConGlobal LLC, an intermodal services provider. The transaction is scheduled to close March 15. “This sale allows ContainerPort Group to really focus on its core services: drayage trucking and logistics solutions,” said Michael Smith, CEO of World Group, the parent company of CPG. “This decision was not taken lightly. Our organization has been in the container depot business from the earliest days of containerization. The 90-plus CPG employees that are transitioning to ITS ConGlobal bring years of experience and knowledge, and we are grateful for their many years of service to CPG.” ITS ConGlobal operates at more than 120 facilities across the United States, Mexico and Costa Rica.
