Southwest Signal Engineering Co. renames itself Xorail

Southwest Signal Engineering Co. announced Monday that it has changed its corporate name to Xorail Inc. (pronounced "Zo-rail"). The move complements the company’s actions last September, when the provider of signal and communications services to the railroad industry and other sectors formed a separate construction subsidiary, called Xorail Construction Services, which specializes in construction services for railroads.

Kash Krishnarao, president and CEO of Southwest (now Xorail) and manager of Xorail Construction Services, said in a statement, “This announcement reflects the fact that our company is no longer just a signal engineering company, nor is it just located in the Southwest. Xorail is a nationwide company that has capabilities of providing ‘cradle to grave’ signal and communication services to railroads, commuter agencies, and other industries.

“There has been no change in management or personnel,” Krishnarao said. “We will be providing the same products and fine services on which we have built our reputation in the industry for over 18 years. Moving forward we will be Xorail, a name as unique as our eXceptiOnal services.”

The company, founded in Jacksonville, Fla., in 1990, employs 240 people (half at its Jacksonville location), and has offices in 10 states.
