In light of the ongoing public health risks surrounding in-person events and the safety of travel as a result of COVID-19, the Railway Supply Institute (RSI) has decided to cancel the 2020 RSI Expo & Education Conference scheduled for Sept. 9-11 in Chicago, Ill.

In lieu of the event, RSI is exploring the possibility of holding a limited number of education sessions through a virtual platform and will provide additional information in the coming weeks.

The five-phase reopening plan outlined by Illinois Governor JB Pritzker bans large-scale gatherings from moving forward until a vaccine or highly effective treatment for the virus becomes widely available, or that no new cases are recorded over a sustained period, a situation that appears highly unlikely to occur by this September.

Exhibitors who have already made payment will be given the option of transferring it to exhibit space at Railway Interchange 2021 or receiving a full refund. For any questions, contact Amanda Patrick, VP of Trade Shows, Programs, and Board Relations, RSI, at [email protected].

“RSI is committed to providing a safe environment for our members, education partners, exhibitors and attendees, and the current public health environment has made clear that it will not be possible for us to hold this event as planned,” said RSI President Mike O’Malley. “On behalf of the RSI Board of Directors and staff, we are grateful for your patience and loyalty as we navigate this challenging time together. RSI will continue to support the rail supply industry and the railroad customers we serve.”

“We look forward to seeing all our regular exhibitors and attendees at the RSI Conference at Railway Interchange next year in Indianapolis from Sept. 25-28, 2021,” RSI said.
