Robert Coward joins Parsons Brinckerhoff

Robert Coward has been named a Senior Supervising Engineer in the Lawrenceville, N.J., office of Parsons Brinckerhoff. He will provide construction management support for the New Jersey High-Speed Rail Improvement Program, also known as the Raceway program, which involves upgrades to the Northeast Corridor between Trenton and South Brunswick, N.J.

Parsons Brinckerhoff is serving as program manager/construction manager on the project for Amtrak.

Coward has more than 40 years of engineering and management experience with various aspects of mass transit systems and facilities. Prior to joining Parsons Brinckerhoff, he served as Program Manager for the Maryland Transit Administration’s Purple Line on behalf of an international consulting engineering organization. The project involves planning, preliminary engineering, and construction of a 16-mile, $2.4 billion light rail from Bethesda to New Carrollton.

Previously, during his tenure with the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA), Coward held several management positions in its Engineering and Construction Division, including Director, responsible for the overall management and direction of SEPTA’s $1.1 billion capital program to rehabilitate the 13.2-mile-long Market-Frankford/Subway-Elevated (BlueLine).

Coward received a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Drexel University.
