Trane Technologies

Trane Technologies announced on Aug. 9 that Dwayne Cowan has been appointed as president of Thermo King EMEA and Global Marine, Air and Rail, effective August 1. He will report directly to Chair and CEO Dave Regnery and join the Enterprise Leadership Team as a Corporate Officer of the company.

Cowan, who will be based in Brussels, succeeds Francesco Incalza, who will return to the U.S. as Vice President of Audit Services, reporting to CFO Chris Kuehn and the Audit Committee of the Trane Technologies Board of Directors.

Cowan most recently served as Vice President of Sales and Service for Thermo King Americas. Since joining Thermo King in 2006, he has worked in roles of increasing leadership responsibility, including district and regional sales and product management positions. He has a track record, the company says, of “achieving substantial business growth through diverse market conditions and meeting customers’ evolving needs through innovative solutions.” He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in biological engineering from the University of Georgia College of Engineering and an MBA from Arizona State University.

“Dwayne is an outstanding leader with extensive experience in our Thermo King business, who has a reputation for delivering business growth while keeping customers front and center and creating an uplifting and inclusive culture for his team,” said Regnery. “He will continue to expand Thermo King’s role as a market leader in delivering sustainable refrigerated transport solutions, including our goal to provide fully electric products in every segment of the cold chain in EMEA by 2023.”

“Thermo King is an industry leader in refrigerated transport, and I’m thrilled to take on this new role during an exciting time, when we’re helping to transform the industry for a more sustainable future, while bringing new and innovative solutions to our EMEA customers,” said Cowan.

STV

STV announced on Aug. 9 that Matthew Smeltzer, CPA, has joined the firm as Corporate Controller. He will report directly to STV’s CFO and be responsible for STV’s accounting, reporting and financial audits.

Matthew Smeltzer, CPA, STV Corporate Controller

Prior to joining STV, Smeltzer served as a Director in the Finance and Accounting Mergers & Acquisitions Integration Strategy Practice at KPMG LLP. In this role, he was responsible for helping companies “manage the accounting and reporting complexities of transactions, including performing Day 1 readiness assessments, identifying synergies, designing and implementing internal controls, operationalizing accounting adjustments, implementing new systems and identifying processes improvements.” He previously worked as a Senior Manager in the Financial Accounting Advisory Services Practice at EY LLP.

“Matt has a depth of accounting experience that includes managing projects to accelerate the global financial close and consolidation process and creating and implementing internal controls to integrate newly acquired firms into existing organizations,” said Thomas Butcher, CPA, STV CFO. “As STV completes the integration of CP&Y, an STV company, and continues to grow, Matt’s expertise will be invaluable.”

Smeltzer earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and international business with minors in finance and Chinese and a concentration in Asian studies from The University of Scranton and his MBA from New York University, where he graduated as valedictorian with concentrations in strategy and corporate finance.
