Indiana Rail Road Company (INRD) appoints Derrick Wright as Vice President, Operations and Mechanical. Also, RailPros hires 35-year New Jersey Transit veteran Lenora Isaac as Director of Rail and Transit Projects, based in Newark, N.J.

At the 500-mile INRD, Derrick Wright will lead the Transportation, Mechanical, Railroad Services, and Safety departments. With more than 20 years of railroading experience, he started his career at CSX, working as Yardmaster, Trainmaster, Terminal Manager, and ultimately Terminal Superintendent in Chicago before becoming the Vice President Transportation of the former Midwest Region at Genesee & Wyoming. Most recently, Wright was Chief Operating Officer at Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District.

“Derrick’s experience and ability to develop continuity across all departments will be a great asset in supporting our Safe and Efficient operations,” said Dewayne Swindall, President and CEO of INRD, Railway Age’s 2012 and 2018 Regional Railroad of the Year. “He is a great fit to our team as we continue evolve as a premier transportation service provider.”

In related developments, Dan Corcoran in September was promoted to Director, Intermodal Operations.

At Irving, Tex.-based RailPros, Lenora Isaac will oversee development and implementation of new rail and transit projects in the New York/New Jersey/Pennsylvania metropolitan region. She recently retired from NJ Transit, where she held roles in Fleet and Support Equipment, Capital Planning and Programs, and Rail System Development. She served most recently as Senior Director of the Resilience Program, and was responsible for the delivery of a program of projects worth more than $3 billion, including Raritan River Bridge Replacement, Long Slip Fill and Rail Enhancement, and Delco Lead S&I Facility projects, as well as new substations and multiple other infrastructure and facility projects.

“RailPros is thrilled to welcome Lenora to our team,” RailPros Senior Vice President of Engineering Tom Crowell said. “I and other members of RailPros have a long history working alongside of Lenora. She is extremely knowledgeable and highly motivated, along with knowing the ins-and-outs of the transit industry in the Northeast. Lenora has had an extremely successful career at NJ Transit, and she will add another layer of experienced expertise to the full suite of services that we provide to our rail and rail transit clients.”

Separately, Karen Hankinson, Vice President and Senior Project Manager of RailPros, was recently named one of Railway Age’s 2022 Women in Rail award honorees.
