OmniTRAX is bringing the Rail-Ready Sites program to its 45-mile Brownsville & Rio Grande International Railway (BRG) in Cameron County, Texas. The Broe Group affiliate is partnering with Greater Brownsville Economic Development Corp. (GBEDC) to connect rail-served properties with customers interested in locating in the area—near the Port of Brownsville and Mexico.

OmniTRAX and GBEDC are offering three initial sites, totaling 50 acres, along the BRG, and are focusing on attracting automotive assembly and parts manufacturing, aerospace parts manufacturing, metals recycling, energy, logistics and port-related industry business, among others. BRG interchanges with Union Pacific, BNSF and Kansas City Southern de Mexico.

Brownsville, Texas, “has a cost of doing business that is 20% lower than the rest of the country,” GBEDC Executive Director and CEO Mario Lozoya said. “Combine that with our young and skilled workforce, which includes participants in our award-winning “We Grow your Own” training program, and the OmniTRAX Rail-Ready Sites program is sure to be a great success for Brownsville.”

OmniTRAX recently extended the Rail-Ready Sites program along its 25-mile Northern Ohio & Western Railway (NOW).
