Operation Lifesaver Canada (OL) recently unveiled its new online Rail Safety Ambassador training.

OL’s latest educational tool to help prevent deaths and injuries from railway crossing and trespassing incidents, the training takes 30 to 45 minutes to complete, depending upon the user’s existing rail safety knowledge.

The training aims to provide Ambassadors with the key messages and content they need to make presentations and volunteer at events on OL’s behalf, and also links to OL’s new campaigns and refreshed outreach materials.

The training can be accessed from a desktop or smartphone, and provides:

  • A brief introduction to Operation Lifesaver.
  • An overview of railway signs, devices and other safety warnings.
  • A rail safety quiz to test Ambassadors’ knowledge.
  • Tips and techniques for getting the rail-safety message across to different audiences and age groups.
