NSH USA Corp.—the recently merged Simmons Machine Tool Corp. and Hegenscheidt-MFD Corp.—is building a new manufacturing technology center next to its Albany, N.Y., headquarters.

Simmons Machine Tool Corp. and Hegenscheidt-MFD Corp. merged in June; they had been partner companies since 2001 within the NSH Group (Niles-Simmons-Hegenscheidt). Together as NSH USA Corp., they manufacture specialized and multifunction machine tools and automation systems for rail, automotive, aerospace and other industrial manufacturers worldwide.

NSH USA Corp. has acquired the land and buildings to accommodate the Niles Technical Application Center (NTAC) and support manufacturing expansion.

“The increased collaboration with NSH USA’s partner company in Germany, Niles-Simmons Industrieanlagen GmbH, and the larger family-owned NSH Group (Niles-Simmons-Hegenscheidt), as well as demand for NSH USA’s machines and automation necessitated the property acquisition,” NSH USA Corp. reported on Aug. 30.

Niles-Simmons designs and manufactures precision CNC machining centers. Housing the NTAC in a new facility will allow NSH USA Corp. to “work closely with customers on manufacturing process development, [and] training and software development in industries including aerospace, defense and railway, as well as other emerging transportation and renewable energy opportunities,” the company said. The new facility will also include a Niles-Simmons N30 MC turn-mill machining center (pictured above) as well as other demonstration machines from the NSH Group’s members.

“Our machines have been manufactured here in Albany for over a century,” NSH USA President and Chief Operating Officer David William Davis said. “This [new] facility will leverage our company’s core skill sets for the benefit of an expanded set of industries and deliver world-class technical service support for Niles-Simmons customers in North America and potentially beyond.”
