New Jersey Transit recently launched a new informational campaign for riders called While You’ve Been Away “to educate them about the extensive safety measures in place as well as systemwide improvements made as they return to mass transit.”

While You’ve Been Away encourages customers to return to the system by illustrating significant improvements and advances made by NJT, not only during the COVID pandemic, but over the past three years,” NJT said. The campaign includes six components:

  • Improving Service, Reliability & Safety.
  • Enhancing Our Customer Experience.
  • Responding to COVID-19.
  • Advancing Major Capital Projects.
  • Setting A Vision for the Future.
  • Providing Nationally Recognized Security.

The campaign features print and digital signage throughout NJT stations and terminals, ads on buses and trains, and extensive radio and digital advertising, events, social media and field activities “to show how customers will experience these improvements when they return.” It’s centered around an online hub, njtransit.com/progress, which will be updated  regularly.

NJT said the agency is also ready for customers’ return to work with the new FLEXPASS ticket option, which provides customers with a 20% discount for 20 one-way trips, valid over a 30-day period. “As business continue to reopen and customers begin returning to their offices throughout New Jersey and in New York City, FLEXPASS is a great value for workers with new, more flexible schedules.”

NJT President and CEO Kevin Corbett

“We created this campaign to inspire rider confidence and showcase all the work we’ve done since 2018 to improve the customer experience—especially since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic,” said NJT President and CEO Kevin S. Corbett. “As this campaign makes clear, we’ve accomplished quite a bit, and we are so proud to share all we’ve done to move NJT forward, all with the singular focus on giving our customers the best possible transit experience, particularly as many are now contemplating their return to public transit.”
