Over the next two months, Railway Age will be presenting two important conferences: Next-Generation Train Control (NGTC) on Oct. 20-21, and Rail Insights USMCA on Nov. 11. Both events are virtual and feature speakers who are industry leaders in their respective fields.

NEXT-GENERATION TRAIN CONTROL

NGTC, which Railway Age has been co-presenting with Parsons Transportation Group since 1995, will feature in-depth technical sessions and comprehensive project updates on CBTC for rail transit, PTC for main line railways and related advanced, emerging technologies—artificial intelligence, Big Data, cybersecurity and more. Presented by leading experts from around the world, this conference is the global rail industry’s single-most important communications and signaling event.

NGTC’s keynote speaker is Scot Naparstek, Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer for Amtrak. Among other featured presenters are TTCI President Kari Gonzales, BART Group Manager, Systems and Data Informatics Engineering Wendy Wheeler, Network Rail Consulting Associate Director, Railway Systems and Operations Mick McNulty, and Canadian Pacific Vice President of Train Control John Leonardo.

RAIL INSIGHTS USMCA

Rail Insights USMCA is an opportunity to participate in a dialogue with U.S., Mexican and Canadian railway industry leadership on key cross-border strategic challenges, issues and trends. The conference is “fireside chat”-style webinar. We’ll explore what is affecting business growth, capital investment, technology, regulation, service quality and safety in the North American freight rail market.

Canadian Pacific President and CEO Keith Creel (Railway Age’s 2021 Railroader of the Year) and Kansas City Southern President and CEO Pat Ottensmeyer (Railway Age’s 2020 Railroader of the Year) kick off the three-hour event in a joint session with Railway Age Editor-in-Chief William C. Vantuono. They’ll discuss creating the “USMCA Railroad”—North America’s first transnational Class I—through the pending CP-KCS merger. They’ll be followed by Hoffman Lijeron, President of CG Railway LLC, which operates a freight rail ferry linking Mobile, Ala., with Coatzacoalcos, Mexico. Union Pacific Vice President, Marketing and Sales – Mexico Humberto Vargas will talk about “near-shoring” manufacturing and intermodal opportunities, CN President and CEO JJ Ruest  (Railway Age’s 2019 Railroader of the Year) concludes the conference with a discussion on how CN is evolving to “PSR 2.0” on the North American rail network
