NEARS ready for 2017

The North East Association of Rail Shippers (NEARS) has set its slate officers for 2017, appointed a new Executive Director, and announced meeting dates.

Donald Cameron, Manager-Business Development, Yusen Logistics (Americas) Inc., has been appointed President. Keith Kelsey, Regional Account Manager, David J. Joseph Company, is First Vice President. Jason Seidl, Managing Director, Cowen & Company, and Railway Age Wall Street Contributing Editor, is Second Vice President.

NEARS will be transitioning to a new Executive Director in 2017. Joseph Gearin, who has been involved with NEARS for 40 years, twice past President, and Executive Director since 2005, is retiring this year. Scott McCalla, Owner and Director of Maxem Consulting, will be taking over as Executive Director at the 2017 Spring 2017 Conference.

The NEARS Spring 2017 Conference will be held April 26-28 at the Marriott Newport, in Newport, R.I. The NEARS Fall 2017 Conference will be Sept. 26-28 at the Pittsburgh Marriott City Center, in Pittsburgh. Pa. Details and registration can be accessed on the NEARS website, NEARS.ORG.

NEARS “specializes in bringing rail shippers, railroads and transportation service and product providers together for education, networking, and a forum to increase value in doing rail business. We are one of five regional organizations that together form the North American Rail Shippers Association.
