Canadian Pacific (CP) has elevated Pam Arpin to Vice President and Chief Information Officer. In addition, Portland, Ore.-based TriMet has named Rachelle Glazier Executive Director of Transportation Operations.

In Arpin’s new role at CP, she will be responsible for redefining the Class I railroad’s digital strategy and information services roadmap. She has served CP for more than 20 years, working in commercial, operations, finance and customer service roles.

Arpin was previously Vice President Innovation and Business Transformation, a new company position that she held since October 2020. Now, as Vice President and CIO, she will retain the same portfolio, including oversight of CP’s Network Service Center.

Notably, Arpin was honored as 2019 Railway Woman of the Year by the League of Railway Women and named one of Canada’s Most Powerful Women: Top 100 by the Women’s Executive Network that same year.

At TriMet, Glazier will direct all operational activities for the agency’s MAX light rail, WES commuter rail, bus and paratransit service, effective Aug. 16. She has more than 16 years of experience at freight railroads and transit systems, and was selected as one of Railway Age’s 20 “Fast Trackers” in 2021. Most recently, Glazier was General Manager of U.S. Network Operations for CN, based in Homewood, Ill. She has also held the role of Chief Officer of Stations and Operations at MTA New York City Transit.

Not new to the Portland area, Glazier spent the early years of her railroad career in eastern Oregon, where she served for 13 years in maintenance and operations at Union Pacific (UP), rising through the ranks from Locomotive Machinist to Director of Mechanical Maintenance. In addition, Glazier has worked as a certified Journeyman Machinist/Mechanic with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAMAW) Union.

“Rachelle comes to TriMet with the perfect blend of skills and experience to lead this large and complex division and the individuals who make up this hard-working team,” said TriMet General Manager Sam Desue, Jr., who was appointed to the top role last month after serving in an interim capacity. “She will work in support of our goals surrounding service reliability, efficiency, safety, continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.”
