HDR Vice President Maggie Walsh was recently appointed Chair of the WTS (Women’s Transportation Seminar) International Board of Directors. WTS, of which Walsh has been a member for 20 years, focuses on promoting equity and access for women in transportation careers. Her two-year term started in May.

As chair, Walsh, who is based in Chicago, will oversee the organization’s activities promoting personal and professional development for WTS members, both within the organization and throughout the transportation industry, and collaborate with the Board to achieve WTS’s 2021 strategic plan.

Since joining WTS in 1997, Walsh has held many significant positions at the local and national levels. This includes Chapter President of WTS Chicago and committee positions in WTS Boston.

Walsh is recognized as an advocate for the advancement of women in the field and frequently lends her voice to a wide variety of women’s development programs. “I am very passionate about the vision and mission of WTS,” she said. “I will bring forces together, bridge differences, respond to needs, and blend abilities of the WTS Board, members and industry leaders as we move into the future.”

“Doing our part to promote and advance the careers of women in transportation makes us stronger as an industry and more sustainable as a company,” said HDR Transportation Group President Brent Felker. “I’m proud of Maggie for her work leading to this appointment and wish her much success during her term.”

More than 250 HDR women and men are members of WTS, including more than 50 serving in leadership roles in local chapters across the country.
