Edward A. Lewis, 1942-2015

Edward A. Lewis, 73, President of the Aberdeen & Rockfish Railroad from 1987 through 2007, died Nov. 11, 2015, from Parkinson’s disease.

Lewis’s railroad career spanned 45 years and also included terms at the Long Island Rail Road, Arcade & Attica, Providence & Worcester, Strasburg Rail Road and Lamoille Valley Railroad. A highly respected leader in the short line railroad industry, he authored several publications, including “The American Shortline Railway Guide”, “Aberdeen & Rockfish, The Road of Personal Service: A Centennial History” (co-authored with Trains Magazine Editor Jim Wrinn) and “Wellsville, Addison & Galeton Railroad: The Sole Leather Line”.

Lewis is survived by his wife Cordelia (Cordy) of 52 years; daughter Heidi, son-in-law Philip Smith; son Christopher, daughter-in-law Olga; sister Pamela Lewis; and his nephew Carl Field, his wife Grace Chang and their daughter Mei Field. A celebration of his life will be held at Boles Funeral Home at 35 Parker Lane in Pinehurst, N.C. on Tuesday, November 17th at 5:30 pm. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
