CN President and CEO Jean-Jacques “JJ” Ruest accepted Railway Age’s 56th Railroader of the Year Award at the Union League Club of Chicago on March 12.

“I am greatly honored and humbled to accept this award on behalf of all of us, the CN railroaders,” said Ruest in his acceptance remarks. “I want to thank all of our people at CN for their constant support in these exciting and challenging times. The way we make things happen as a team is by working as one. None of what we do would be possible without every single one of the 25,000 railroaders we have at CN.”

Earlier, Ruest sat down with Railway Age Editor-in-Chief William C. Vantuono at the Next-Generation Freight Rail conference to discuss growth in the industry.

“Scheduled railroading remains the foundation of our operations at CN, but now that it is firmly in our DNA, we are building on it with new infrastructure, trackside and back-office technology, and putting the right talent in the right place. All of this is to ensure superior customer service,” Ruest noted.
