The United States Patent Office has granted two patents in the area of autonomous inter-vehicle communications and collision avoidance to Peter M. Bartek, President and CEO of start-up Focused Technology Solutions, a division of The Marmon/Berkshire Hathaway Company.

According to Bartek, who has lengthy experience in radio, sensor and advance warning systems, “Our mission at Focused Technology Solutions is to develop state-of-the art technology that improves productivity, safety, and data acquisition in real time for the transportation industry.”

Prior to founding Focused Technology Solutions, Bartek was President of Protran Technology, now a Harsco Rail Company.

Bartek was recently named an Aresty Scholar by the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business. The designation of Aresty Scholar by the Wharton School “recognizes a commitment to professional development,” the university says. The award honors civic leader, business owner, philanthropist, and Wharton alumnus Julian Aresty and his brother Joseph Aresty, who together endowed the Aresty Institute for Executive Education at Wharton.
