The American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association (ASLRRA) has secured a powerhouse lineup of speakers for its 2016 CONNECTIONS Convention, to be held April 3-6, 2016 at the Gaylord National Convention Center in National Harbor, Md.

Monday’s opening general session will feature the Honorable Sarah E. Feinberg, Administrator of the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA). The second woman to lead the FRA since its founding in 1966, Feinberg is the nation’s chief safety regulator for freight and passenger rail. She will share her vision for the FRA and address ongoing regulatory efforts.

Wednesday’s closing general session will feature political commentator Charlie Cook. Considered one of the nation’s leading authorities on U.S. elections and American political trends, Cook founded the independent, non-partisan Cook Political Report in 1984, a publication that in the words of The New York Times is “a newsletter that both parties regard as authoritative.”

“CONNECTIONS has been the place for the short line industry to connect with peers and be challenged and informed by new ideas, and this year’s event will be no exception,” said Linda Darr, President of ASLRRA. “The insights that Feinberg and Cook will bring to our members will provide a broad view of the landscape in which we operate, while tracks designed for specific functional areas will provide a more granular approach to education. More than 250 exhibitors will showcase the best the industry has to offer with the latest in technology and products.”

This year, in addition to dynamic speakers, CONNECTIONS will deliver more than 40 education sessions, an expo with more than 250 exhibitors, and special events including the 2nd Annual Pinewood Derby.
