Written by Administrator

Ansaldo STS has received an order worth 220 million euros (284 million) to supply electromechanical equipment for the Taipei Metro in Taiwan’s capital. The project, which also includes AnsaldoBreda in the vehicles segment, has a total value of 334 million euros, or $432 million. The customer is the Taipei local authority’s Department Of Rapid Transit Systems (DORTS).

The agreement covers the first phase of a circular line for the Taipei Metro and involves an integrated turnkey system for the construction of the electromechanical installations and the supply of rolling stock for a line 15.5 kilometers (10 miles) long, with 14 stations. The line will be built using driverless technology and communications-based train control (CBTC), eventually covering 52 kilometers (32 miles).

The contract should be signed by Ansaldo STS, AnsaldoBreda, and DORTS early next month.
