Loram Completes Aurizon Acquisition Down Under

Loram Pty Ltd., the wholly owned Australian subsidiary of Loram Maintenance of Way, Inc., has completed its acquisition of Aurizon Operations Ltd.’s rail grinding business, increasing its Australian customers by four, among them all main line and turnout rail grinding for Aurizon Network Pty. Ltd.

“This acquisition is a step-change in Loram’s continued expansion as a respected leader in railway maintenance contract service operations globally,” said Loram President and CEO Phil Homan. “Loram will now deliver its unrivaled customer service to Australasia and Southeast Asia with the strength of our experienced Australian leadership team from its base in Brisbane.”

Loram is the OEM of the acquired fleet of Aurizon rail grinders, and as such “has unmatched technical expertise operating its advanced equipment for customers in numerous countries,” the company said. “In addition to rail grinding, Loram delivers innovative solutions for ballast maintenance, material handling, friction management and automated track inspection.

“Loram has more than 50 years of experience providing innovative solutions for the unique [problems] faced by the Australian rail industry, and we are honored to deepen our longstanding relationship with Aurizon and our other Australian customers,” said Loram Pty Ltd. Loram, established in 1954, provides rail-maintenance contract services and equipment sales and service in dozens of countries around the world. The company has more than 50 years of experience in the Australian rail industry, and its machines operate on Australia’s major mining networks, interstate freight lines and passenger systems.

Aurizon is Australia’s largest rail freight operator.
