Simmons Machine Tool Corp. has established the Niles Technical Application Center (NTAC) at its manufacturing facility and headquarters in Albany, N.Y., to offer Niles-Simmons machinery to the rail, aerospace, defense and other non-automotive industries in North America.

Simmons manufactures machine tools, measuring machines and automation systems for railway wheelset maintenance and production; sister company Niles-Simmons designs and manufactures precision CNC machining centers. Both are part of the international NSH Group (Niles-Simmons-Hegenscheidt Machine Tool Group).

In first-quarter 2021, Simmons will also receive the Niles-Simmons N30 MC, a multi-axis, multi-function turning machine to perform “applications engineering” work for customers. The N30 can handle turning, milling, boring, drilling and other machining process operations, according to Simmons.

“The Niles-Simmons product line furthers our railway capabilities by offering the RQ series of wheel manufacturing machines and the N20, N30 and N40 LT machines for manufacturing new axles and maintenance operations,” Niles-Simmons Product Manager Alexander Davis said.
