Tunisian National Railways (SNCFT) has taken delivery of an initial batch of 10 Progress Rail GT42AC diesel locomotives, which will be used to haul phosphate trains.

SNCFT awarded Progress Rail a $54 million contract in December 2016 to supply 20 of the six-axle meter-gauge locomotives, which are being built at the Progress Rail plant in Muncie, Ind.

The order is being financed by a consortium of Tunisian and international lenders.
