ZTR has introduced its Locomotive ELC (Electronic Load Controller), which the company describes as “a low cost way for switcher locomotives to improve reliability and adhesion.”

“Old load regulators in switcher locomotives can be difficult to maintain, durability is a constant issue, and quality spare parts are harder to find,” says ZTR Product Development Manager Dave Brooks. “The ZTR Locomotive ELC replaces old load regulators, while also delivering performance and diagnostic improvements to make a difference in switcher operations.”

The Locomotive ELC is available in a basic excitation control system as well as in an ELC-PEO (Performance Enhance Option) configuration featuring horsepower regulation by throttle, tractive effort improvement using adaptive targeting, intelligent sanding control, and more.

Additional information is available at www.ztr.com/elc. ZTR will be exhibiting at RSI/CMA in Montreal, Canada, September 21-23, booth #401 and at InnoTrans in Berlin, Germany, September 23-26, Hall 6.2, Stand 509.
