CIT Group Inc. announced that Robert Rubino has been named president of CIT Bank, N.A., the banking subsidiary of CIT, and head of Commercial Banking, effective Feb. 25.

Rubino will oversee the CIT’s commercial banking divisions, including railcar financing, commercial financing, real estate financing, equipment financing, and commercial services.

He will join the company’s Executive Management Committee and report to Chairwoman and Chief Executive Ellen R. Alemany.

“Bob is a proven leader with nearly 30 years of banking expertise,” said Alemany. “His strategic and results-driven approach will support our efforts to further strengthen our business, as well as grow and drive synergies across the commercial divisions.”

He earned a master’s degree in economics from the London School of Economics and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Providence College.
