Carboline Company, a St. Louis-based coatings manufacturer, has acquired Strathmore Products, including Strathmore’s American Coatings product line.

Houston, Tex.-based Strathmore Products is a manufacturer of high-performance coatings for the rail industry. American Coatings, acquired by Strathmore in 2014, has provided interior and exterior coatings to industrial manufacturers, contractors, tank builders, floor coating applicators and equipment owners for more than 30 years.

Strathmore Products, founded in 1942, provides coatings to customers in rail, oil and gas, marine, and other industrial markets. The Strathmore brand and product portfolio “will be a great complement to Carboline’s extensive portfolio of high-performance coatings, linings, and fireproofing products,” Carboline said. “The acquisition will allow Carboline to provide customers with a more diverse range of products and technologies.”

Strathmore will remain a stand-alone brand within Carboline. In a related development, Avon, Ohio-based Advanced Polymer Coatings, Inc. (APC), a manufacturer of high-performance linings for industrial applications, has entered into an exclusive North American distribution agreement with Strathmore Products for APC-engineered linings for the rail industry.

Carboline produces coatings, linings and fireproofing products in more than 20 manufacturing facilities around the world. The company said that, with the acquisition of Strathmore Products customers “can expect to benefit from the increased number of distribution points, large direct sales team, worldwide manufacturing capabilities and state-of-the-art research and development facilities we offer.”
