ARCI: Railcar Backlog Rises

Vantuono, Editor-in-ChiefNewly released data from the Railway Supply Insitute American Railway Car Institute Committee (ARCI) shows orders and deliveries remaining steady in Q122. The total backlog grew by approximately 7.4%, to 46,208, compared to 4Q21, and 32.6% compared to the prior-year period.
Compared to the year-ago period, orders more than doubled, from 6,227 to 12,957. Deliveries increased by 34%, from 5,996 in 1Q21 to 8,043 in 1Q22.
