ARCI: Railcar Backlog Rises

Newly released data from the Railway Supply Insitute American Railway Car Institute Committee (ARCI) shows orders and deliveries remaining steady in Q122. The total backlog grew by approximately 7.4%, to 46,208, compared to 4Q21, and 32.6% compared to the prior-year period.

Compared to the year-ago period, orders more than doubled, from 6,227 to 12,957. Deliveries increased by 34%, from 5,996 in 1Q21 to 8,043 in 1Q22.
