ARCI: 3Q22 Orders and Backlog Show ‘Significant Increase’

Newly released data by the Railway Supply Institute (RSI) American Railway Car Institute Committee (ARCI) shows orders and backlog “significantly increased” in this year’s third quarter. Total orders grew by approximately 124% while backlogs grew by approximately 29%.

ARCI statistics are compiled by RSI using data from North American freight railcar builders and is available to subscribers with a full breakdown by car type, including pressure and non-pressure cars, several categories of hopper cars, as well as other car types including boxcars, flats, and gondolas.
