Logistics Analyst



The Logistics Engineer is responsible for designing and implementing common contract logistics processes and driving continuous performance improvement. The Logistics Engineer supports multifaceted operation based on a detailed understanding of client needs. This role is also responsible for maintaining financial and engineering metrics that will meet or exceed performance goals.



  • Ensure all distribution system functionality is configured to optimize performance (e.g., warehouse management, labor management, slotting and reporting applications)
  • Analyze contractual commitments, customer specifications, design changes and other data to drive continuous improvement and meet or exceed expectations of customer
  • Analyze all client logistics data including customer service, transportation and warehousing
  • Perform special research or technical studies critical to logistic support functions
  • Perform cost/benefit tradeoff analysis and develop ROI business cases for recommended projects involving process, system or technology change


  • Document and communicate common processes for all distribution functions within scope of responsibility
  • Develop key performance indicators, metrics and analysis tools for client logistics operations
  • Review data and summarize expectations to address gaps in operation
  • Identify areas for improvement based on analysis of data and observations


  • Propose logistics solutions for customers
  • Communicate opportunities for improvement in the distribution network
  • Help determine key metrics and provide recommendations to guide management
  • Assist with developing/presenting training materials and classes for distribution processes


  • Bring cross-functional teams together to collaborate on projects
  • Support the labor management program, including methods and procedures, engineered labor standards, incentive programs and program policies
  • Ensure alignment among all operations’ policies, procedures and ongoing improvement projects

Project Management:

  • Assist with developing and rolling out growth strategies and projects
  • Determine feasibility of projects factoring costs, available space, schedule limitations, company goals, technical requirements and economic factors
  • Develop and implement project activities plans and timelines, coordinate subcontractors, facility management and field service personnel, and resolve problems in area of logistics to ensure meeting of contractual commitments

Education and/or Experience

  • College Degree Required
  • Minimum of 2 years of logistics engineering experience in a supply chain environment

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Professional Designations

  • N/A


Computer Skills

  • Proficiency in MS Office Applications – emphasis on Excel for analysis
  • Insight into Warehouse Management Systems allowing for understanding of system capabilities
  • Knowledge of computer-assisted engineering and design software (MS-Project and Visio)

Language Skills

  • English (reading, writing, verbal)
  • Must possess excellent communications skills, must be self-motivated and a team player
  • Strong writing skills with experience documenting design methodologies to create logistics solutions and responses to RFP’s

Mathematical Skills

  • Intermediate to Advanced
  • Application of engineering science and technology to logistics needs of clients
  • Advanced data analysis

Other Skills

Specific Skill Sets:

  • Extensive transportation knowledge of methods to move goods by rail and road along with the benefits of transportation mode selection
  • Knowledge and experience in support of Warehouse Management Systems
  • Additional Knowledge/Experience/Skills:
    • Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously
    • Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail
    • Project management skill and experience
    • Able to develop and deliver presentations to managers and executives – internal and external to organization
    • Keeps informed of technical changes and industry trends


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Industrial preferred
  • year of operations experience in supply chain environment
