Steffens Joins SRF as Director of Cargo Strategies

Strategic Rail Finance (SRF) has added David Steffens to the executive team of its Freight Rail Business Advisory practice as Director of Cargo Strategies. He has extensive experience in supply chain and freight management, and has founded multiple businesses in the transportation sector.

Steffens’ most recent company, Keystone Transportation Solutions, addressed the systemic inefficiencies in logistics practices plaguing U.S. forest and agricultural exporters, with specific focus on bulk-2-container transloading and multimodal transportation strategies. Previously, Steffens served as Managing Partner at New Hope Capital Partners where he focused on disruptive supply chain initiatives, intermodal transportation strategies and infrastructure. He also founded and served as President and COO of Certicell, a provider of supply chain services and third-party after-market asset management to the wireless device industry.

Prior to Certicell, Steffens established Environmental Reclamation Services, Inc. to introduce his “reverse logistics” protocol to the aftermarket product and repair industry. In each of these roles, Steffens “realized significant revenue growth due largely to innovative service offerings that had bottom-line impact for his customers, leading to successful business exits,” SRF said.

Strategic Rail Finance provides consulting to short lines, suppliers and shippers as part of its Freight Rail Business Advisory practice, with projects ranging from equipment and infrastructure finance to turnaround consulting, site valuations and customer attraction. SRF also provides ports and government agencies with financial and strategic planning services as part of its Public-Private Finance practice.
