The Intermodal Association of North America (IANA) recognized Ted Prince of Tiger Cool Express, Jim Newsome of the South Carolina Ports Authority (SCPA), and U.S. Rep. Alan Lowenthal (D-Calif.) for their industry service during Intermodal EXPO 2022, held Sept. 12-14 in Long Beach, Calif.

Tiger Cool Express Chief Strategy Officer and Co-founder Ted Prince received the association’s Silver Kingpin Award from IANA Chairman Dr. Noel Hacegaba, Deputy Executive Director of Administration and Operations for the Port of Long Beach. A former IANA Chairman and a 40-plus year veteran of the intermodal transportation business, Prince was selected for his “career-long contributions to intermodalism,” according to IANA.

The Chairman’s Award went to Jim Newsome, SCPA Executive Advisor, for “his dedication to the Association and his passion for educating the next generation of intermodal leaders,” IANA reported. Newsome, a former IANA Board Member, retired recently as SCPA President and CEO.

U.S. Rep. Lowenthal earned the Intermodal Achievement Award, which IANA said was “a testament to his consistent support for the freight supply chain throughout his public service career.” He has authored, introduced or co-sponsored several major pieces of legislation related to the freight industry.

The 2022 Intermodal EXPO welcomed more than 2,000 attendees, according to IANA, which noted that the sold-out Exhibit Hall included 110 participating companies. Plans are under way for the 2023 event, to be held Sept. 11-13 in Long Beach.

In related developments, Tiger Cool Express has selected REMPREX, a provider of technology-enabled services for the intermodal supply chain, to provide intermodal ramp and lift operations for the new Tri-Cities Logistics Center in Wallula, Wash.
