Canadian Pacific’s (CP) intermodal shippers can now use the blockchain-based TradeLens platform to securely and transparently transfer container-shipping documents. The open-API platform will help them create, amend and share documents with consignees, beneficial cargo owners, customs agencies, dray operators, steamship lines and others.

Developed by IBM and A.P. Moller-Maersk for the container-shipping industry, TradeLens “integrates with users’ in-house systems via non-proprietary, publicly available APIs designed for ease of setup and use.”

CP is pleased to join TradeLens as part of its efforts to improve the customer experience through technological innovation,” CP Vice-President and Chief Information Officer Mike Redeker said. “Global shipping is a profoundly complex business and TradeLens is improving the information-sharing processes that support the industry.”
