Savage to Launch Southern Utah Railport

Savage, a Utah-based global infrastructure and supply chain services company, is planning a multi-commodity transload facility in its home state, northwest of Cedar City. It will be served by Union Pacific (UP).

Savage on Oct. 5 reported that it will construct, own and operate Savage Railport-Southern Utah, which will handle agriculture products, construction materials and other commodities. It is currently working with Iron County to obtain all necessary permits, and said it expects the railport to be operational within 12-15 months.

In May 2021, Savage opened a railport in Tooele, Utah, and more recently, in December 2021, held a grand opening for the Savage Gulf Rail Facility, which supports the plastics manufacturing joint venture of ExxonMobil and SABIC in San Patricio County, Tex. Both facilities are served by UP.

This transportation infrastructure investment will drive economic growth and support jobs by helping connect farmers and businesses in Cedar City, St. George and rural communities throughout Southern Utah with broader domestic and global markets.”
