The American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association (ASLRRA) has named Zachary M. Radford Assistant Vice President of Congressional Affairs.

He will work with ASLRRA staff and member railroads to pursue legislative support for infrastructure grant programs and surface transportation and tax policy, among other important issues.

Radford brings extensive Capitol Hill, rail and transportation government affairs expertise to his new position. In Congress, he served U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) as Senior Policy Advisor and Counsel, influencing rail safety bills, the 2015 FAST Act and the 2018 FAA Reauthorization. Radford also served as a legislative assistant to Sen. Jon Tester (D-Mont.), advancing the Senator’s Appropriations Committee work among other responsibilities. Additionally, Radford has been Federal Relations Officer at the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA), Director of External Relations at the Washington Metrorail Safety Commission, a private consultant, and a lawyer in California.

“Zach brings significant transportation legislative experience that will serve the Association and its members well—and immediately—as Congress works to bring a transportation or broader infrastructure bill to the President’s desk,” ASLRRA President Chuck Baker said.
