R.J. Corman Awarded Switching Service Operations Contract

R.J. Corman Railroad Switching Company, LLC, a subsidiary of R.J. Corman Railroad Group, announced that it has been awarded a five-year contract to provide Sasol with switching service operations to the company’s Lake Charles Chemical Complex in Westlake, La., beginning Dec. 1.

At Sasol’s Westlake location, which is served by Kansas City Southern (KCS) through the railroad’s adjacent Mossville Yard and line, R.J. Corman, alongside diverse equipment and railroad assets, will have a workforce of more than 50 employees covering various roles, from train crew members to mechanical, human resources and management.

The contract with Sasol, a global solutions provider “offering a broad, state-of-the-art portfolio of specialty and commodity chemicals for a wide range of applications and industries,” is the second location opened by R.J. Corman Switching Company in Louisiana this year after starting operations to support graphic packaging in West Monroe, La.

Since the opening of its first location in 2001, R.J. Corman Railroad Switching Company says it has “consistently grown its presence in the country to currently operating 21 divisions between its automotive and industrial switching sites in 11 different states.”

Corman Railroad Group President and CEO Ed Quinn. “We are eager to support their operations and become a key logistics and supply chain business partner for them.
