Port 10 Watco Rail Logistics—a joint venture of transportation service and logistics company WatcoPontikes Development and McNair Interests—has opened a new 420-car storage-in-transit (SIT) yard in Baytown, Tex.

The joint venture in January 2022 announced plans for the yard to be constructed at the Port 10 Logistics Center. In addition to railcar spots, it offers some 3 million square feet of warehouse and distribution space. The center specializes in liquid and bulk commodities, including plastics.

Watco is providing switching operations at the yard, which connects directly to Union Pacific and the Class I railroad’s Coady Yard, and is located near Port Houston’s Barbours Cut and Bayport Container terminals.

“The new yard adds convenience, flexibility and operational efficiencies for our customers,” Watco Senior Vice President of Sales for Terminals and Port Services Marc Massoglia reported in the May 2022 edition of The Dispatch, Watco’s monthly digital publication. He participated on April 11 in a ribbon-cutting ceremony with other stakeholders to officially launch the yard.

Separately, Watco was recently named to Newsweek’s Global Most Loved Workplaces® 2023 list.
