White House Senior Advisor Mitch Landrieu and former Administrator of the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) Howard R. “Skip” Elliott are featured speakers at the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association’s (ASLRRA) Annual Conference & Exhibition, to be held April 2-4 in New Orleans, La.

Mitch Landrieu will address attendees during the April 3 General Session. In addition to his role as Senior Advisor to President Joe Biden, Landrieu is Infrastructure Implementation Coordinator, assisting with the implementation of BIL (Bipartisan Infrastructure Law or Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act), which the President signed into law on Nov. 15, 2021.

Landrieu was the 61st Mayor of New Orleans, La., (2010-2018), taking office when the city was still recovering from Hurricane Katrina and in the midst of the BP Oil Spill. He went on to chair the U.S. Conference of Mayors and was recognized as Governing Magazine’s Public Official of the Year in 2015. Prior to his role as Mayor, he served two terms as Lieutenant Governor of Louisiana and was a state representative for 16 years.

Skip Elliott, former PHMSA Administrator (2017-2021) and acting Inspector General of the U.S. Department of Transportation (2020-2021), will speak during an April 4 educational session. “In light of the ongoing events in East Palestine, Ohio, Elliott will discuss the need for community planning and outreach, and the railroad’s responsibility for providing an acceptable and adequate community standard of care effort after an incident,” ASLRRA reported in the March 1 edition of its Views & News newsletter.

Before his roles in government, Elliott was Vice President of Public Safety, Health, Environment, and Security for CSX. He is now President of HRE Integrity LLC, a management consulting firm.

Register today and hear insights from Landrieu, Elliott, and many other industry and subject-matter experts at ASLRRA’s Annual Conference & Exhibition.
