Wheeling & Lake Erie and Herzog completed brake testing and preparations for Positive Train Control functionality in revenue service by the end of 2018.

Herzog, based in Brewster, Ohio, said it completed Class II W&LE’s lab and field testing in November with revenue service starting on December 15.

“With interoperability testing complete, W&LE has met the requirements of the Federal Railroad Administration and can run PTC-active trains on Class I territory.”

Assisted by Herzog, W&LE is CSX’s first interoperable freight tenant.

The regional is using Herzog as Hosted Service Provider and PTC Operations Support Desk, and currently transitioning into the 24/7 support role.
