Tom Greene on Jan. 1 took over leadership of Paducah, Ky.-based P&L Transportation, Inc. (P&L), following the retirements of Board Chair Tony Reck and President and CEO Tom Garrett.

The P&L Board of Directors elected Tom Greene to serve as Chairman, President and CEO of the company, whose subsidiaries include Paducah & Louisville, Evansville Western, Appalachian & Ohio and Midway Southern. He was previously P&L’s Executive Vice President-Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer. Following 53 years of railroad industry service, Tony Reck has retired as P&L Board Chair. He began his career as a brakeman at the Illinois Central Railroad, and moved into the railroad’s Marketing department upon graduating from college. In 1986, Reck joined the first management team of Paducah & Louisville as Vice President of Marketing and Sales. He was elected President and CEO in 1988.

Tom Garrett has retired from P&L as President and CEO. His railroad career started in 1987 as Paducah & Louisville’s General Counsel. Garrett was named P&L President in 2010 and added CEO to his title in 2022.

P&L also appointed Tim Wyatt as Vice President and Chief Operating Officer and Jennifer Hrdlicka as Vice President-Chief Financial Officer and Chief Administrative Officer, effective Jan. 1.
