Railway Age Presents ‘Rail Insights Canada’ Virtual Conference

Based on the popularity of its virtual “Rail Insights” conference held this past June, Railway Age is presenting “Rail Insights Canada,” a virtual two-hour conference scheduled for Oct. 27, 2020. Registration is complimentary.

“Rail Insights Canada is an opportunity to participate in a dialogue with the Canadian railway industry’s leadership on key strategic challenges, issues and trends, freight and passenger,” notes Railway Age Editor-in-Chief William C. Vantuono, who will moderate the “fireside chat”-style webinar. “We’ll explore what is affecting business growth, capital investment, technology, regulation, service quality and safety in the Canadian rail market, freight and passenger/transit.”

Several leading railway industry executives are on the agenda:

  • JJ Ruest, President & CEO, CN (and Railway Age’s 2019 Railroader of the Year; and Keith Creel, President & CEO, Canadian Pacific, lead off and conclude the agenda, respectively. They will address “Canada’s Railways in the Global Supply Chain.”
  • A session on Canadian short lines and regionals follows Ruest. This segment featuresKevin Shuba and Corina Moore. Shuba is CEO of North American Class II/III operator OmniTRAX, which operates the 103-mile Carlton Trail Railway Co. (CTRW) in Saskatchewan, a forest products and grain/specialty crops hauler that interchanges with CN. Moore is President and CEO of the Ontario Northland Railway (ONT), a 647-mile carrier that provides a wide variety of freight services, and interchanges with CN and CP.
  • Phil Verster, President and CEO of Metrolinx, will address his agency’s aggressive investment program in the GTHA’s (Greater Toronto Hamilton Area) expanding light rail, rapid transit and regional/commuter rail networks.
