Progress Rail, a Caterpillar Company, has purchased Brazilian software firm and consultancy Nitryx, adding network optimization, yard planning, crew management and a rail movement planner to its Advanced Rail Technology (ART) product line.

Nitryx serves the transportation and supply chain industries. Its products—offered primarily in Brazil—will be able to support North American Class I and global mining railroads through customization, according to Progress Rail.
