The Northern Plains Rail Companies (NPRC) have appointed Dan Mack as executive vice president of Finance, Marketing and Sales, effective immediately.

In his new role, Mack will be tasked with managing the strategic financial planning activities at NPRC. He will also lead the company’s marketing and sales efforts, according to a company statement. Mack is based in Woodbury, Minn.

The Northern Plains group has rail operations across the upper Midwest and in western Canada, and the company said it continues to grow its business through its commitment to safety and customer satisfaction.

“Dan Mack is one of the most respected executives in the transportation and logistics industry,” said Gregg Haug, NPRC chairman. “We are very pleased that he will be joining Northern Plains in this key executive role, leading our growth as a premier provider of rail logistics solutions.”

Prior to joining NPRC, Mack spent two decades with CHS, Inc., a farmer-owned cooperative based in St. Paul, Minn., where he most recently served as vice president Transportation and Terminal operations. At CHS, Mack was most recently responsible for enterprise-wide activities involving rail, barge and ocean freight transportation.

He also managed facility operations for CHS’ wholesale grain and agronomy bulk and liquid terminals, including export and biofuels production facilities, a statement said.

Before joining CHS, Mack worked for Canadian Pacific as a commercial account manager in the grain group.
