Short line operator and rail services provider R. J. Corman Railroad Group appointed two longtime Class I railroad executives to its board of directors.

Terry Evans joins the board after 38 years at Norfolk Southern (NS), where he held the position of Vice President of Transportation.

Vern Graham retired at the end of 2010 from his position as the Vice President of United States Operations for Canadian Pacific Railway (CP), and President of Dakota, Minnesota and Eastern Railroad, a subsidiary of CP, after 37 years in the industry.

“We are very fortunate to welcome both Mr. Evans and Mr. Graham to our team,” said R. J. Corman Railroad Group President and CEO Ed Quinn. “I am looking forward to working with both gentlemen. With their expertise and proven leadership in the rail industry, Mr. Evans and Mr. Graham will have many positive impacts on R. J. Corman, and I believe they will be integral in leading our company to continue to uphold our vision of being the best service provider in the industry.”

Evans joined NS predecessor Norfolk & Western as a Management Trainee. He rose through the ranks to hold the positions of Assistant to the Trainmaster, Superintendent for the Georgia and Virginia Divisions, Assistant General Manager of Transportation for the Western Region, and General Manager of Transportation for the Eastern Region.

Evans entered the position of Vice President of Operations Planning and Budgets at Norfolk Southern in 2002, and his later positions were Vice President of Process Engineering, and Vice President of Transportation.

Graham began his railroad career in 1973 as a maintenance-of-way gang laborer on the Milwaukee Road. He was promoted through various management positions before he became the General Manager of Transportation for the Soo Line Railroad, which acquired the Milwaukee Road in 1985. Graham’s tenure with Canadian Pacific Railway began in 1999 when he was hired as General Manager of Field Operations. He was later appointed Assistant Vice President of Engineering Operations, and then moved up to Vice President of Engineering Operations. In 2008, Graham became the President of the Dakota, Minnesota and Eastern Railroad (DM&E), and later added the role of Vice President of United States Operations in January 2010 before retiring.
