Union Pacific (UP) and CSX have been named to Fortune magazine’s “World’s Most Admired Companies” list for 2022.

The list of 333 companies is broken down by more than 50 industry sectors. Ranked with four others in the Trucking, Transportation and Logistics category, UP came in at No. 4 and CSX, No. 6. Also in the category: Maersk Group (1), Ryder System (2), J.B. Hunt Transport Services (3), and C.H. Robinson Worldwide (5).

Fortune’s research partner, Korn Ferry, surveyed some 3,700 executives, directors and analysts to rate enterprises in their own industry on nine criteria—from investment value and quality of management and products to social responsibility and ability to attract talent—from a list that began with approximately 1,500 international and domestic companies (including the 1,000 largest U.S. companies ranked by revenue, along with non-U.S. companies in Fortune’s Global 500 database that have revenues of $10 billion or more).

The magazine’s annual “World’s Most Admired” list will be published in the February/March 2022 edition, available on newsstands Feb. 7.

“Union Pacific’s Fortune ranking is a reflection of our dedicated employees and their commitment to delivering value to our customers, communities and shareholders,” UP Chairman, President and CEO Lance Fritz said. “This recognition highlights the steps we have made to operate a safe and efficient railroad that continues to serve our key stakeholders with excellence.”

“Nothing strengthens a corporate culture more than success,” CSX President and CEO Jim Foot said. “The Fortune recognition is a source of tremendous pride for our employees, who have embraced our vision and continue to deliver every day for our customers.”
