At Railway Age’s Eighth Annual Rail Insights Conference, to be held virtually June 23, Union Pacific chief executive Lance Fritz leads off in a discussion that will be largely focused on service recovery and supply chain congestion.

Railway Age Editor-in-Chief William C. Vantuono will engage in a “Fireside Chat” style conversation with Fritz, who leads North America’s largest Class I, the biggest of the industry’s “Big Four.” The Surface Transportation Board has placed the Class I railroads under a microscope, examining everything from a drastic decline in service quality to accusations of an excessive focus on operating ratio and short-term profits. How are Fritz and the C-Suite at UP addressing STB’s scrutiny?

Their conversation is just one part of the Rail Insights 2022 Conference, which will explore what is affecting business growth, capital investment, technology, regulation, service quality and safety in the North American rail market—freight and passenger.

Also on the line-up are such industry leaders as CSX Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Jamie Boychuk; Amtrak President and CEO Stephen Gardner; Watco CEO Dan Smith; STB Chair Martin Oberman; and GATX Executive Vice President and President, Rail North America Paul Titterton. They will talk with Railway Age editors William C. Vantuono, David Nahass and Don Itzkoff about key strategic challenges, issues and trends.

In addition to its speakers, Railway Age’s Rail Insights 2022 Conference is being supported by a number of sponsors: CSXTrinityRailUnion PacificWatcoAmsted Digital SolutionsLoramSiemens, and The Greenbrier Companies.
