People News: UP Elevates Hess, Kirchhoefer, Perkes

Union Pacific has promoted three Vice Presidents to serve in the Marketing and Sales division and at Loup Logistics, the railroad’s door-to-door intermodal shipping, transload and logistics services business.

Jason Hess moves from Vice President-Premium, Marketing and Sales, to Vice President-Bulk. He succeeds Brad Thrasher, a 33-year UP veteran who will retire in March. Hess has worked for UP for more than 26 years, holding leadership roles in multiple business groups, including Premium, Bulk, Industrial Products, and Customer Care and Support.

Kari Kirchhoefer takes over as Vice President-Premium. A UP employee for more than 28 years, she served most recently as Vice President-Loup Logistics. Kirchhoefer has also served as an executive in the Industrial Products, Customer Care and Support, and Bulk divisions.

Josh Perkes succeeds Kirchhoefer as Vice President-Loup Logistics. He was previously Assistant Vice President Workforce Resources. For more than 18 years, Perkes has held leadership positions on the Marketing and Sales Premium, Industrial Products and Operations teams.

In related news, UP Chairman, President and CEO Lance Fritz will lead an expert panel sharing rail growth strategies at Railway Age’s Next-Gen Freight Rail 2021, to be held virtually March 10.
