Railcar repair and maintenance services company Eagle Railcar Services recently announced that it has reached an agreement to acquire the assets and personnel of Rescar Companies’ Plant Services Division.

The acquisition—expected to close the first week of August 2019—adds five full-service railcar repair and maintenance facilities to Eagle’s current network, bringing the total facility count to 10 with employment of about 1,200 full-time personnel.

Also, the deal makes Eagle “the largest full-service provider of railcar repair and maintenance services in the United States,” the company noted.

“The Rescar plant locations align perfectly with Eagle Railcar Services’ strategy of offering a broad array of services, for all railcar types, with a national geographic footprint primarily located on Class 1 Railroads along heavy rail traffic routes,” said Marc Walraven, President, Owner, Eagle Railcar Services. “Most importantly, this acquisition allows us to accelerate our growth while delivering the superior customer service for which Eagle is known in the industry.”

“Adding the Rescar shops to our portfolio will broaden our geographic reach and will double our network capacity, allowing us to better serve our customers in all regions of the country,” said Walraven.
