CP, CN Salute Queen Elizabeth (UPDATED)

Canadian Pacific (CP) and CN gave brief but “moving” tributes to Queen Elizabeth, who died Sept. 8 at 96.
“Thank you for your lifetime of service, ma’am,” CP wrote on Twitter. “Rest in peace, Your Majesty.” Also on Twitter, CN wrote: “The passing of #QueenElizabethII brings sadness but also rich memories for Canadians far and wide as she loved our country and its people.”
In the photo above, from CP’s archives, then-Princess Elizabeth, age 25 and the Duchess of Edinburgh, and her husband, Phillip, the Duke of Edinburgh, are seen aboard a CP passenger train in 1951 during their month-long Canadian tour.
CN provided the photo below on Twitter, explaining that in 1959, the railroad “welcomed Her Majesty to unveil the model of the new hotel that bears her name and CN’s building in Montreal.”
