CN Launches Consolidated Shipment-Tracking Tool

The new CN One Mobile app features a consolidated shipment-tracking tool for both carload and intermodal customers, CN reports.

Launched Feb. 16, the app (view below) provides a real-time “snapshot” of a shipment on CN’s network, allowing customers to follow the movements of their merchandise without using multiple tracking tools, according to the Class I railroad. Customers can track not only shipment status, but also estimated time of arrival and receive shipment notifications. Additionally, they can access map views and tracking features to view, search, filter and share shipment details “anytime, anywhere,” CN noted.

For use on mobile devices, the app is available in English and French from the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store.

CN told Railway Age on Feb. 23 that while the app “is still new to market, overall user experience and initial customer feedback is positive:

  • “They like the new look of the new app.
  • “Like that the map appears when tracking the shipment.
  • “Speed / performance is improved.
  • “Shipment tracking details are better in the new app.
  • “No issues downloading the app from the Apple Store.
  • “Satisfied with all the data elements currently being displayed on the app details.”
