CN has ranked 10th on the recently released Corporate Knights 2021 Global 100 Index of the most sustainable corporations—the only railroad on the list. Schneider Electric SE earned the top spot; also ranked are Alstom SA, Siemens AG and Stantec Inc.

The research division of Corporate Knights Inc., which publishes a magazine with the same name, produces rankings and financial product ratings based on corporate sustainability performance. For the annual Global 100 Index, it analyzes companies against their global industry peers on up to 24 key performance indicators such as resource, employee and financial management, as well as clean revenue and investments and supplier performance.

“Delivering responsibly is at the heart of how CN is building a sustainable future,” President and CEO JJ Ruest said. “Our company is proud of our nation building history, and today we continue to be deeply committed to moving customer goods safely and efficiently, being environmentally responsible, attracting and developing the best diverse talent, helping build safer, stronger communities, while adhering to the highest ethical standards.”
